Solar*
I do as well, that's why you gotta save the princess shoot enemies and lava rocks for rings. Your teammates can't take much damage, or by the time you reach Vulcain, their health will be entirely depleted. Protect their hides and also recover your own, and maintain a high altitude as much as possible.

Well, like, just general navigation of the level. There are always enemies flying in my face before I can shoot them with lasers or torpedoes.

The key is to roll and shoot torpedoes as much as you can at everything. Just blast away, like there isn't tomorrow. That's one of the main reasons Slippy gave you unlimited ammo for torpedoes. Letting one enemy slip could mean damage to the Blue Marine.
In the trench, destroy all the starfish mines with torpedoes before they can detonate. This is critical for surviving the fight with Bacoon. After that, it's smooth sailing if you continue to fire and roll like crazy.

Did you know that on planets where you fight Star Wolf, you can skip their entrance cinematic and deal damage to them as they fly in?

Really? How so?

I think you press A to skip the cinematic, and your radar should detect a large, black mass coming in. Fly towards it, and you'll see all four Wolfens descending into the battlefield. From there, it's free shooting with your lasers, which, if you have double blue ones, you should easily be able to take one of them out before they scatter.
