Although they can get big. Really big. And if they can fly, that's even worse.

They do have wings, but a number of insects have wings but don't or barely use them. The cockroach evolved from a species of insects that used wings, but they stopped using them for unknown reasons. That's why they're always folded down and are the color of the roach's body. Interesting how that works.
But yeah if roaches could fly, they'd shoot to amazing heights on the pest list.

Some species of roach can fly, though. I saw one take flight in my house once. The ones that can don't fly too swiftly, but they're still a pain in the ass.

Good thing I've never experienced them. I've only seen the roaches that have wings folded down, not the roaches that look like they're in their nymph stage.

If certain insect species were the size of a medium-sized mammal, they'd be extremely deadly, and would give the human race a run for its money.
